A new year - a new blog

Gina Barrett's One Button a Day 2020 - complete button display

Happy New Year! Ok, I know that the year really hasn't started off on the best footing for any of us, but hopefully it will be much better than the last by the time we get to the end of it.

The image above is the wall in my craft room/dining room, complete with every button from last year's challenge. Eventually they will all be put into a set of boxes that Mark has built for me (he also made a set for the 2016 challenge buttons). But they will probably stay up for a few years - the others have only just come down :)

I've enjoyed a little of time away from social media - but I was doing bookkeeping. End of month and all that. Still has to be done, holiday season or not.

Then, car issues. Garage shut until this week, so we've been carless. Add that to going into a full scale lockdown and stress levels started to rise. I know we aren't the only ones but still.

So, I've decided to take the time to get back to the new book, and it is going well! And that's enough of that, don't want to jinx anything.

Anyway, I will be keeping this blog this year - not every day, don't want to bore you, but a few times a week. I've got some plans for some hopefully interesting articles.

Hang in there friends. Take care and be safe. xxx

  4. If only it weren't for the general distraction of *gestures vaguely* pandemic and all, proper lockdown would be a good time to get on with writing, wouldn't it!

    1. You've hit the nail on the head. Getting in the mood isn't easy when you are worrying. I'm envious of those who have managed to be super efficient.

  5. Glad to hear from you! I had been wondering about the car - did Toby like his Giant Truck ride?
Don gave me an e-course on the embroidery of Marken, the Netherlands. In Dutch with minimum bits of English. There are a LOT of words we get from the Dutch so it makes interesting reading. It also makes it very frustrating when she is talking about the textile usage or history - I can figure out the bits written in embroidery pretty well. Anyhow, there are some clever and different projects using the learning pieces, like a pencil case sewn from a zipper and a long strip of whitework that zips up on itself in a spiral! And of course, one can also make a huge sampler piece, which I'm not sure I want to commit to - too many other huge ufos piled around me!
The buttons look great on the wall - you done good, sweetie!
Hugs to all, stay warm and dry and well, as will we. Happy New Year! May 2021 be full of joy and well being for you. Charlotte in California xxx

    1. Lovely to hear from you too! What a terrific sounding course - it's nice learning new skills. I have seen similar to the pencil case, but the spiral sounds very interesting. I reckon I'd go with the sampler, I'm getting into those at the moment...
Toby hated the truck. Did not like moving that high up. So, it looks like something that big is not in our future - at least not with a bench front seat :)
Happy new year to you both. Stay well and warm and safe - I'm sure all of the craziness will calm down soon xxx
