Playing catch up this week!

Hi Everyone!

Well, this week has been a bit mad for me - I hope you've managed to have a bit more of a relaxed time.

Busy busy getting ready for our next show over on The Craft Store - next Saturday the 19th. We will actually have 2 new button kits, and both will be exclusive to them for 7 days. As we move forward, most items that we launch over on the channel will be exclusive for a period of time. More about the kits next week.

The real rushing has been for the big job that I can't talk about haha. Lots and lots of extra items at very very rushed timescales now until the end of the month. A case of "oh I bet Gina can do that" I think haha! All very exciting, though time consuming!

Above is the video of last week's "Rain" contributions. Goodness me, every week just gets better, honestly! So many wonderfully creative people!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone xx

Let's talk about button moulds! PLUS One Button A Week- week 2 - winter ...

Button moulds - what are they, and what can I use?

This topic came up this week over on our Facebook group, and I thought this would be a good thing to do as an informational video - sometimes seeing something is better than just reading about it.

Of course, we have loads of button moulds over on our website, but I know that international shipping does mean that some may not always be able to get what they want.
But there are so many different things that can be used as a button mould, so I hope that this gives you a bit of an idea.

At the end of the video is more wonderful community contributions for the One Button a Week Challenge - week 2 with the prompt "winter".

Do pop over to the blog for the challenge for the images and some other snippets about the challenge!

This weekend, it is all about winding wire and packing kits -

Yes, we are getting back into it and have a show over on The Craft Store on the 29th of January! We will be bringing ganutell kits - along with a new kit based on the Cloisterwork techniques - all sparkly and shiny wires and pretty flowers.

For those of you who follow these things, last week was quite the week. The Craft Store took over Create & Craft (the tv shopping company where we started out). So, who knows, we may end up with some shows over there at some time!

Stay safe and well everyone!

Adding a ring shank & button back PLUS Community contributions One Butto...

I'll be writing two blog posts this evening - one over on the One Button a Week blog as well as here - both slightly different...

Today's is a new video - with a little bit of an explanation of how I have made my button for this week, but more importantly, one of the methods I use to add a ring shank and backing to a button.

Ring buttons are supposed to be "sew-throughs" of course. However, if you are working a Dorset tree, or posy, there will be spaces, that can look odd - a beautiful landscape and then the wrong colour fabric showing through, kinda ruins it. And you know, I also hate it when I've made a lovely ring button and someone sews it on badly, ruining my work.

So, here's one solution.

At the end of the video there are some community contributions for the first week of the challenge - pop over to that blog for pictures and more info about that.

Stay safe and well all.
xx
