Sorry for the silence!

It's been one of those weeks (and a bit). Facebook (business) pages is really messing up - I posted thank you's to you all for tuning in and the post has disappeared. I made another posting - nope, gone and then I've had a week where I couldn't actually type anything in. I've also got a thing showing that there is a message on the business page - but can I find it? Nope. Nowhere to be seen. If you have tried to message, best to send it through email, or try again. So, that has been quite a pain to say the least.

We have been busy packing of course, all show orders got out well within the time, including the delayed dispatch items - so thank you again. Our next show isn't until July 24 - giving us some vital catch up time.

I've been suffering quite badly with my sinuses recently (not anything new particularly) and am now waiting to get back to see the ENT as my usual tricks aren't clearing them up this time. This has meant time in front of a screen is limited, as my eyes don't do so well and I've had a bad earache. Not helpful when it is book keeping time haha. It has also meant the intros to my video can't really be filmed - I look so bleary eyed :) Guess I am more vain than I thought!

I also have suspected Plantar fasciitis. Again, waiting to see a specialist, as over the counter insoles have not helped (and possible made the problem worse). I now cannot stand for very long at all and walking is incredibly painful. So, by the time we've packed orders I'm sitting down with my foot up trying not to feel lazy.

However - I have been working on an exciting project which involves sitting comfortably, making, and taking lots of step-by-step photos.....

So all in all I hope to be a bit caught up next week and back to making videos.

In other news - this year I joined the National Button Society. I am already a member of the British Button Society, but joining the American one seemed a wise move. Especially as this year their convention is online, so I will be able to attend (ok, some of the things I want to attend will mean some very late nights, but I'll figure it out). But, even more exciting, the Americans do competition "trays".

It isn't something done here, and it is something I've always been intrigued by. Well, this year one of the categories is fabric buttons. And of course, being virtual, entry is by emailed image. Probably the first and only time I will be able to take part (no way I would post my button collection), so I am really looking forward to having a day or so going through those tins above (and a fair few others) and finding the right vintage and antique buttons to make up the tray. I am sure I won't "win" (there's no prize this year) as there are a lot of rules to follow as to buttons and types and so on and newbies never get it right as I understand, but I am going to enjoy the process!

Stay well and warm everyone, and I hope you are all keeping well yourselves

    1. Oh thank you! It is frustrating and I do hope they will stop making changes soon.
Teaching ballet and making tutus and buttons sounds wonderful. Stay well xx

  2. I've just put on my hand/wrist brace and my plantar fasciitis instep band - so see, I do listen ;). It really is the pits when that long tendon in your foot gets those nasty little tears - tendon takes forever to (mostly) mend, but keep the arch support handy, it can go off again any time :(. And have you checked for allergies? I have a chronic allergic post-nasal drip from dust, house mites, and oak bark! There is no place in the world I can go without my anti-histamines. If they try to give you the latest, greatest thing in allergy relief do try to get older and simpler stuff - fewer side effects, cheaper, and more effective.
You will have a good time making up your competition tray for July - one of my button clubs will be challenging ourselves with mini trays when we can meet again - it is a good way to learn about what one has. And they are, overall, a very nice bunch of people. Have fun with the lectures too!
Looked over at Yoko's posts - what a splendid job she did with her soutache! I gather someone was a bit snippy to her and I am always sorry to hear about trollish behaviour, since it can hurt the good guys. I do wish I was better at this computer communication because I'd like to tell her she is doing wonderful, inspiring work. Please do pass it on should you be in touch, will you?
Happy button sorting! Hugs all around and stay safe and well. xxxx

    1. Her soutache buttons are beautiful aren't they? But, when is a Yoko button not? :) Happily I don't think she'll ever give up - just stop comments, which is smart. I will pass on your good wishes. I was born with problem sinuses and had a major op when I was very young. So the problems are more that the airways can't deal with much. A few years ago an op was suggested, I declined at that time due to moving channels so I suspect it might be heading that way again. And I really need a hearing aid I reckon.
I hope your wrist and foot are better soon, well done you for doing as you should ;) Stay safe and well both of you!

    2. Foot and hand both improved a great deal but will continue to wear equipment to bed. Looks and feels odd but I don't wake up hurting.
Congenital misalignements are a drag, especially ones that were 'dealt' with when we were children - I'll hold good thoughts for you.
My friends with hearing aids are happy but much out of pocket - our health care system doesn't seem to think one needs ears or teeth - but it seems the technology has been used well when it comes to hearing. Even the cranky 'nothing works right' man is doing well. Will hold more good thoughts for you.
Glad to know you are a bit better. Stay safe and well.xx

    3. Thank you for your well wishes. I'm glad to hear your foot and hand are improved. Ours doesn't really do teeth anymore - and hearing seems to be one of those - big ugly free, digital, discreet = ££££. I am sure if we simply had a bit less rain this year we'd be much improved. Stay safe and well my friend xxx

  3. Isn't it the pits that just when we get good at what we do and start really enjoying life and all its' cool stuff that we start to come unglued physically? ;) xxx

    2. I hear the patter of buttons! Isn't it fun to rustle around in lots and lots of the little goodies? Enjoy! Stay safe and well, both. xxx

    3. Just came in from our evening walk and Don has gone out to hook up the hose - large pine tree in front yard with lots of very dry duff - not good with fireworks all around!
      Safe and well xxx

  4. Merry Fourth of July! Have a hot dog and set off something left over from 5th November!
Watch out for dying celluloid - smells like very strong vinegar. Button is not salvageable! Put any other celluloids in a basket or some other thing where air can circulate.
Safe and well, all of you! xxx

    1. I hope your 4th went ok and without incident and that you didn't need the hose. I am very "good" with buttons, and besides some of Mark's mums, have very few that aren't fabric or leather. Celluloid disease scares me! Also, having too many buttons... When I retire, I will indulge to the full, lol.
Stay safe and well, and hydrated - it's that time of year again! xx

    2. Our 4th was quite festive and quite without incident - everyone had set off their fireworks by midnight and we got some sleep.
Glad to know you are "good" with buttons - the celluloid advice was, sadly, the voice on experience :(. I don't think there is such a thing as too many buttons... none of my friends here think so, and they are all retirement age, lol.
We will do our best to stay safe and well, and hydrated, and you take extra care, please - Don says there is some nasty plague variant in your neck of the woods.xxx
