Tutorial - The "Changing Sides" button

Well, I have been rather lapse here on the blog, haven't I?
Just a little heads-up, if you "do" facebook or Instagram, that's probably the best place to find out what I'm up to in between posts...

Very busy week plus - our machine died, and we now cannot manufacture anything until the new one arrives next week. We've been re-arranging the unit, finding a place to put it, and generally sorting out. Certainly needed, but I'd rather be working on getting kits packed!

Speaking of working on, busy busy designing the next kits - something quite different, but that we've wanted to do for a very long time. I hope you all will like it.

So, although we had a sell out - and it won't be available again until next week - I have also posted up a product support video for the Basketweave Button Kit, you'll find it here -

  1. I forgot to ask if Toby gets to take Mum and Dad on a little holiday in the van - goodness knows they need one after all the recent stress! Fingers crossed! xxx

  2. Ok, it is summer now - 83'F at 6:36PM! Next week, all of August and September and most of October -stinking! Only blessing is that for all but a week or two it will low humidity, so a fan and a damp tea towel make life bearable. After a doctor appointment (Himself) went for lunch in a place next to and overlooking an ice rink - cool and fun. All ages and sizes and skill levels of youngsters from six and only wobbling along the edge to late teens, preparing for a competition. I belong to the hold the edge and wobble class - collapsing ankles and zero co-ordination.
Hope the mechanic is home soon to fix up the go-van! Toby really needs his holiday after having his bed moved. Travel safely, have bunches of fun, and stay well. xxx

    1. Oh thank you!
Yes, holiday needed, but won't be for a while - another show next week! Mechanic booked, and plan B in place too. Glad you are both well. Lunch and ice rink sounds fun. Never tried ice skating, but did love the roller rink as a teen - and that is showing my age lol!! Stay safe and well both xxx

  4. If worst comes to awful, a nice picnic to the park on the other side of town might be the change that is as good as a rest! Hugs all around! Stay safe and well - we are, and as cool as possible. xx

  5. Got most of the Thursday show on rewind - love the the new kits - really giving people a chance to stretch with the Wonderfil threads and Team Silkworks designs, and b-----y brilliant to offer dark and light! Stumpwork tools are ab fab and well done , engineering team!!!! And you did a good job demonstrating under interesting circumstances - I know lots of us are waiting with baited breath for the videos! Hope you all got home safe and sound and get a few moments to relax. Stay well! xxx

  6. Ick! Ick! Ick! Nothing quite as icky as picking up your glass of water in the middle of the night and discovering several dozen ants dancing all over it! And all I wanted was a drink! We have been under siege for the past week or so - teeny tiny and very fast and a larger lot, not so swift. All over the house in the oddest places - I mean what can they find of interest on my nightstand? And every stray strand of hair on my arm makes me brush frantically. Please hold good thoughts! xxx

  7. Thank goodness for chemistry! Got a little pot full of ant death and it seems to work! Far fewer little critters stomping across the bed and the night stand and fewer still this morning.
Hope you and the guys are well and safe. Hugs all around. xxx

    1. I'm so sorry for the delay in replying, it has been all go, and with the phone dying on me, I have fallen behind. And now have a rather rotten cold to show for it. Day off and lots of lemsip today. Ugg to the ants, hope the solution keeps working. I hope to get started on the videos later today- I can narrate over them later. I think moving forward I'll have to do more videos before a launch as there seems to be less time on the live show these days. I appreciate you searching it out. Stay safe and well both of you.

    2. Dearest Girl! So sorry you are cold laden! I just thought you and Team Silkworks were so furiously plate spinning that some saucers fell off their sticks! Hope it doesn't get passed through the family - Toby is such a poor patient.
The ant solution does seem to be working - no ants tromped across me at all last night! But they may be attempting an assault on the kitchen. I am ready for them!
You know, I think you maybe correct about less time for demonstrating on air - it has indeed felt a trifle rushed this year. Odd. Yes, save the voice over for later. It will be exhausting enough to film. Just looked up lemsip - sounds just the ticket.
We've been very quiet - that lunch near the ice rink and grocery shopping spread over two separate days ( distinct light bulb moment there - much easier and less exhausting!) and a walk around the block in the evenings. Too hot to do much else and we just seem to be happier puttering around the house. We truly are turning into a pair of hermit bats - later and later to bed, later to rise, and whole days without outside contact. Very thankful to have a good friend to do it - or not do - with! Hugs all around, get well, stay well, be safe. xxx

    3. Oh thank you. I haven't had a bad cold in some years, so I suppose it was my turn, no filming, but a lot of sleep - Toby doesn't like things out of routine, but did enjoy the extra long "Daddy-only" walk lol. Going to work for a little bit today to get orders out, then back to base. Sinuses won't be happy with too much more. We've always been hermits of a sort. Lemsip is great, but does make my teeth feel funny, I brush them more often! Yes, I feel the last two shows were a bit like that. Still I also did some extra filming on the day for the app, and that was a button from start to finish, so pretty neat. Stay safe and well both of you xx

  8. Glad so see you seem to be over the 'death warmed over' stage - Don always worries because I just lie there and moan for a day or two, but then so does he! Trust the other half is staying well, and I know Toby is reveling in those Dad only walks. xxx

    1. Mark did come down with it too, thankfully we seem to pace it so one can look after the other during the worse. (I moan less than him though, haha) Both feeling more like ourselves now, thank you! Keep well and safe both of you too xxx

  9. 3 o'clock in the morning - just got jolted awake by thunder and lightning! Very very odd for this time of year but I do have a memory of dancing in the rain one night with my sisters after a long dry period - must have been about this time of year. Far longer ago than seems possible! xx

    1. What a lovely memory. I have one of staying with parent's friends one very hot summer in New York. The night storm was so intense, we were woken up and went on the porch to watch the lightning, Scary but impressive!

  11. Well, the hurricane has reduced itself to a tropical storm and, on us at least, is merely dumping some rain - and not even a great deal of that! There are other parts of the west that have been harder hit and there was an earthquake 95 miles north that added to the excitement. Not a big one -5.1- but as always, interesting. The wind has not been howling and the power has stayed on so I figure we are ahead of the game! I think the media did a job of playing up the potential - our son called from Wichita to find out if we had laid in sand bags and a boat!
Looks as if we might have matching weather for a few days! You all stay safe and dry and well as will we! xxx

    1. Goodness, it's all go this year isn't it? So you didn't get any shocks your way? Although I have to say, I noticed on my Facebook memories that about 10 years ago the weather was pretty much the same. Our weather is currently dry, but it's feeling very heavy - there is another storm brewing, but it might miss us.
Stay safe and well both of you! xxx

  12. Oh, we felt the quake all right - nice and rolling and long (30 seconds is forever in earthquake time!). We tend to forget that the earth is a living thing and does stuff in cycles just like people do. The Canadian forests burn every 100 to 200 years, earthquakes and tsunamis happen, and if every human being alive disappeared overnight it would all go on nicely by itself. Anyhow, we got about 2.5 inches of rain which is a lot for a semi-arid climate, and there has been some flooding and downed trees and idiots thinking they can drive through water or across a creek bed. This storm is so huge that it has hurt other parts of the country more than us. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you - I know that heavy feeling - like the whole sky is squishing down, like someone oozing over their seat on an airplane (and then falling asleep on your shoulder and drooling!!!)- will hold good thoughts. Stay safe and dry and well. xx

    1. Yes, we do forget, that's for sure. Many many year ago there was an earthquake when we lived out in the real sticks. It was evening, we were outside and the wave - just before we felt anything - was announced by pheasants being woken up in their roosts, yelling. A few, then a few in the next place, a few in the next, and so on right into the distance, then we felt it.
Our threatened storm didn't come in the end, bright and sunny again this morning. That is quite a bit of rain - yes, humans will do dumb things no matter where! Sunshine at least means I must crack on with some laundry while I can! Stay well and safe both xx

    2. Please do not mention laundry! Mine is piling up and I'm perilously close to an empty undie drawer! Have fun- glad you got sunshine after all. Hugs to all, safe and well. xxx

    3. Hearing the birds yell as the quake rolled along is interesting - I've never heard that. My sister noticed her tropical fish swimming up and down in the (large) tank - she got her feet knocked out from under her when the wave hit! And I heard a tiny quake toll down a fault line - really did sound like a giant bowling! Cross fingers we never have any worse! xx
