A new year - a new challenge - will you join me?

Happy Betwixtmas!*

I hope that you are all enjoying this slow time between the two holidays.

If you receive our newsletter, you'll know that I asked for opinions as to whether people would like to join me in a new challenge for the new year. So many people emailed to say they'd like to take part, we've worked it out.

It will be simple - you don't have to register or buy kits from us and you don't have make a button every week - just if you feel inspired.

Interested? Why not visit the "official" blog for this - www.onebuttonaweek.co.uk - for the rules and prompts for the first 12 weeks. I'll post images of my buttons there towards the end of each week.

*Happy Betwixtmas was used by the lovely Alex Turchyn this week on the Craft Store. I love it, and think its a great greeting for this time of year.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, safe and lucky 2022

  1. Our little corner of the making world is all aflutter - this is an inspired way to build community! Hope I can manage a few buttons along the way!
Sorry to hear about the standing water - makes composting toilets look like a really good idea! Holding good thoughts for a dry spell.
Do stay safe and warm and well and dry! xxxx

    1. Still wet and damp! Mind you, it could have been worse - it could have been one of those years with lots of visitors needing to use the loo ;) I'm looking forward to see your creations too! Stay well and safe, and a very happy new year to you both xxx

    2. Oh my! Just saw the cardinal in the garden button you made for Yoko! It is a real spirit booster and a heart warmer - so glad you said she could share. Reminds me of a dear friend in Missouri who had cardinals in the backyard every year.
Safe and warm and well. xxx

    3. Did you by any chance make buttons for the Taboo mini series? Some really interesting Regency buttons and a fabulous embroidered vest for the head of the East India Company - I thought of you! xxx

  2. Feels like we are off to a decent start - thanks for pushing things onto the hashtag pages so we can point our work out to other folk.
Hope the New Year's Eve was festive in a sedate way - we stayed up 'til 12 and had our usual glass of port - 53 years!!!! He really is a saint!
Safe and well and warm. xxx

    1. Happy new year! I know, so many pretty buttons. Thanks for making one using an old button, I think people forget they can do that! Due to permissions, I can't move images into an album, so the hashtags are the next best thing. Now to keep on top of it. A little Bailey's for us this year - forgot to get port. Shows you what happens when you don't drink much and need to renew!
Stay well and safe both xxx

  3. Happy New year!
I am not smart enough, but I'll follow you regularly... may be one day I'll be able to create at least one button on my own :-)
    Thanks for sharing

    1. Hello Annie! Trust me - if you can get a message to this blog you are very much 'smart enough'! I feel the same way myself, but got brave and just tried it - turns out your fingers know a lot about making buttons and you can slow Gina's You Tube videos way down so it is possible to follow move by move (mute the sound 'cause she sounds really funny). Give it a go. Charlotte in California

    3. Yes, dear girl, even your charming accent sounds odd at 25%!!! You should have heard the Ukrainian lady!!!! Like the 'sparkle' video - it will help remind me to keep my fingers in the right place.
Stay warm and dry and well and hugs all around. xxx

  4. Is your computer got smoke coming out of its' "ears"? What a fearsome and wonderful response to your idea! And it has made us all sit up and start making buttons - which was, of course, the plan. Holding good thoughts for all involved ;) Hugs all around and stay safe and warm and well. xxx
