Three Ribs Grantham Button how-to

A new video over on YouTube today. This was a special request, so I hope that it helps! I've also added the way that I work the zig zag pattern at the end. I enjoy adding those sorts of details.

For those of you who don't know, this is a design from my Grantham Buttons booklet, using the Grantham Button looms/templates from our kit. You could, with patience work this using my original basketweave method (from by Buttons, A Passementerie Workshop Manual) - wrapping around the central stick, but I do honestly think the looms are easier for these fun buttons.

I do like getting special requests for videos - I can't always promise to do them, but I can certainly pop them on the list and see how it goes! Sometimes the suggestions are perfect - when I get stuck for ideas!

  1. Oooh! You could do black on white and white on black zigzags for your online group challenge! Very chic!
All is well here - hope you all are safe and well and warm. xxx

    1. Plodding on - we get to pick up our car after 5 weeks at the garage tomorrow. Thank goodness it was a warranty issue! Yes, black and white would look quite wonderful. Stay well and safe both of you xx

  2. Hooray for Car being back in your service - he must have been miserable locked up in that nasty old garage! Mine have always hated being garaged.
Safe and well and hugs all around. xx

  3. Well, we certainly got very little sleep last night! Wind howled and banged around like mad - seems there is a big storm rolling in - they have put up blizzard warnings for the mountains (first time in 20 years) and seem to think that most of the country will be hit with nasty weather as the storm goes east. Our kids in Kansas will need to batten down the hatches! And we know it is coming for sure because our neighbor has taped the leaky windows on her classic car. ;)
Hugs to all, and stay dry and warm and wellxx.

    1. I hope it wasn't too bad for you (and that the classic car's tape held!) . It's not too bad right now here, though I am cold (I seem to always be cold haha). But the snowdrops are out across the road which are lovely, so the signs of spring are here. Stay safe and well - and warm! xx

  4. Well, I was right - we do have the most spectacular snow icing on the surrounding mountains! Even the far away ridges show up clearly, wearing their white lace caps (usually shrouded in haze). Magnificent!
Hope you all are all right, merely working hard - wouldn't want those boys in London to be without breeches trim! And I hope you are managing to stay a little warm - warm thoughts probably don't really help but you do have them. xx

    1. Oh, that must be quite a sight! Apparently the Northern Lights could be seen around here - but we were shrouded in cloud and couldn't see anything. :( Busy week, Mark's birthday, then our wedding anniversary, and then my birthday a few days later (we thought it would be easier to get married in between haha!). Also trying to sort out for the next show and do a bit of paperwork as well is proving fun! They are forecasting it to be even colder next week, so the paperwork may well be done in the the front room!
Stay safe and well, both of you! And warm too! xxxx

    2. A very merry unbirthday to both of you and congratulations on another anniversary (we will have our 52nd in May! (He is a Saint!!!)) Good idea to put everything in the same week - means you don't forget. Do by all means sit in the front room - you know you will make fewer mistakes if your fingers and toes aren't freezing solid. xx
