Part 3 of the stumpwork tool project now completed

And.... finally, part 3! This one's a bit shorter, and just adding extra details and using the comb and bar tools. This really is the sort of extras you could go mad with.

I think in the end I will use this either as a box top, or perhaps a little needlecase. I have a bit of a ting about needlecases recently and am currently working on one.

I guess its just an obvious extension to my many pincushions :)

Also busy getting ready for our next Create and Craft show on Oct 26 - we will be taking back the stumpwork tools and a few other new things, so if you are enjoying embroidery, it's one to watch.

I'm also working on a very large commission at the moment, so that's taking some time. But I am enjoying listening to books as I work.

  1. Well, I finally made it around to all three videos - clear idea of how all the tools work (comb is especially brilliant!) and a cute addition to the needlebook collection. I love them too - last February gave a different needlebook, scissor case, pincushion or small bag to everyone taking the EGA fundraiser and I could probably do it again next year without any effort - and many of the projects and/or do-it-someday things are stitching stuff related.
Just got home from successful visits to the podiatrist (me - nail issues) and shoe store (both of us -two pairs of new shoes each!!!!!!!). Glad to have both out of the way. A pair of shoes that are over the hill are just miserable!
I did wonder if you had a new big commission going - trust it is moving along at a satisfactory pace!
Hugs all around and stay safe and warm and well. xxx

    1. Oh thanks for taking the time to watch. It isn't always easy. Glad your feet are sorted. I need to do some show shopping too, although it is feeling decidedly boot weather and I've a comfy pair I'm looking forward to getting back on. I'm a boot person really.
Yes, lots of tassels - silk this time so a lot of warps to wind in prep. Takes much longer than I'd like. But, the perfect time to catch up with a good audio book! Stay safe and well both of you xxx

  2. Gosh, sweeties! We barely got a good look at the new scroll widget before it sold out - the stitching slots for attaching fabric are BRILLIANT!!!!!! Kudos to the team! Indeed it looked as if everything did well. Hope Toby and Mark enjoyed their walk, although I do seem to remember Jan saying something about it belting down. Hope all are safely home and had a chance to have a adult beverage before starting to pack and ship.
I've got the first three hexagon flowers sewn - will stick up a picture if the system is not too wonky.
Jaunt to Santa Barbara was good - nice show and tell on both our parts, a very tasty new place for lunch, a visit with a good shop and "only" three and a half hours each way for each of us!
Hugs all around. Stay safe and warm and well, as will we. xxx

    1. yes, it's been chucking it down for a good week at least, though fortunately on the day it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Many of our roads are flooded - last week the routes into our unit were completely flooded as was a portion of the A1. I expect it will be costing the insurance companies a lot just now.
Would love to see your flowers!
Glad that your jaunt went well! Only three and a half hours! haha. Over an hour and I think again. ;)
Stay safe and well and warm! That time of year again, we can add the "warm" xxx

  3. Make sure the boat is patched up and keep Toby's life jacket at hand! All I can think of is mildew - I have rather a lot of it in the downstairs wc. Someone doesn't think we do but he will find out. There is talk of major house renovating - that shriek you heard the other day was me. Oh well, we'll just hold good thoughts for each other!
Yes, I will have the IT dept. put up some pictures - I would like to get this particular project done before one or the other of us passes on.
Stay safe and warm and well and dryish! xxx

    1. Yes, our cellar is terribly dank and damp - and that's in a normal year! I imagine this year is going to be a lot worse - it is still raining. Major house renovating - oh no! That means housework... tenfold! eek!
Stay well and safe and warm !!

  4. I do hope you don't keep anything much in the frogpond!
I've lost a few days here with being in hospital - guess I looked pretty ghastly because the first doctor I saw said "Ma'am, you look really ill". Hydration and antibiotics and a night in hospital- came home still feeling like death warmed over (hospital will do that to any body!) and have been slowly working up to merely miserable. Had a visit today from a visiting nurse (never had one before). Anyway, I will survive thanks first and always to Don who looked at me and said Hospital in that no argument tone

  5. Seems I can't comment more than facebook thinks I should! - anyway, it si Saturday and I am getting better, slowly but better! Even a slight interest in food! Missed the show and still too addlepated to find it - looks like there was a fabulous button BOX - and you cleared a few inches of space LOL Hugs to all, stay safe and warm and well. I'll get better and Don is staying well - who else will warm our soup and toast our bread? xxxxx

    1. Oh dear! I'm glad Don knew to take you in. I hope you are on the mend now? Take care and keep hydrated! Hopefully the one course of antibiotics will do the trick.
Yes, a nice show, but very tiring - have to get up at 4am ish for the early show so all out of sync for a few days. Been packing today so all should go out tomorrow. Would love to think we've cleared space but I think there's a lot more work to do to get to that stage haha. Enjoy that soup and toast and feel better soon xxxx

  6. Notice I said a few inches, not feet! I did not even remember there was a 4am until the other night /morning in the hospital! At least the Toby pup had a nice time with his person? I think it is an ongoing battle to keep the lid on stuff if you have a small business - there is always shipping and new stock coming in and old stock to renew and everything waits 'til you go home and rearranges itself for the fun of sniggering at you in the morning. And everything at home is having kittens when you aren't looking - enough to send you all off to Bedlam!!!! And I just looked and the basement swamp is growing! Supposed to be sunny Friday but that means colder! I don't think there is a win here. Stay well and warm and work and travel safely. xxx

    1. Ha yes you are quite right! I'm sure that empty boxes multiply overnight. At least they are taken for recycling. Yes, Toby had a great time. :)
I hope you are now feeling a bit more "yourself" and are continuing to be on the mend.
Stay safe, well, and warm! xxx

  7. Yes, actually quite civilized today! Don will be so glad - he hates it when I am not well, and vice versa for sure! Even got my hair brushed!!!!! Hugs all around and stay dry and warm and well. xxx

    1. That is good news! Don't over do it though.
Happy Thanksgiving to you both xxx

  9. Not overdoing it at all - Don won't let me! Thanksgiving was very thankful this year. Also struggling to cope with piles - would not wish them on my worst enemy. At least we are only Southern California cold - I think that would be a final straw! It took a long time to get my brain and hands back in some sort of order but I think I'm there - assembling a scarf from rich turquoise wool woven squares with Yorkshires for tassel heads on the ends - the IT dept. says he'll post pix - bless his boots! Hugs all around, stay as warm and safe and well as possible. xxx

    1. Glad to hear that you are on the mend, and have found your head and hands! I know exactly what you mean there, perfect description. The scarf sounds glorious! I can't wait to see it. And an extra thank you for so many positive comments over on the group. :)
Stay safe and well and warm - even in California cold! xxx

    2. Talking to the group is easy and I have the time - we both feel that it is kind of dreary when no one even pushes a like button, let alone says two words. I like to have positive, productive interaction (GOD help me - did I just say that?) and one has to give to get. I won't point you at Don's passion - not sending you down another rabbit hole! Oh - please thank Mark for the really nice finish on the Yorkshire tools - makes building a lot of them soooo much easier! xxxx

    3. I will tell him, thank you. Well, I think positive interaction is a good thing too! xxx

  10. Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing Day - enjoy the break!!!!!!! Saw the show on rewind - LOVE the sweater! and the bundles all looked very intriguing. I know Toby had a nice time out with Mark and all are safely home and starting to relax. Hugs all around, stay safe and warm and well, as we will. xxx

    1. Thank you! I hope you both have had a nice Christmas. I somehow missed this comment. We are still having a few days off, and enjoying them, though popping in to do some work this week. I hope you both have a very Happy new year too xx stay well and warm !

    2. Gosh whiz! Missed a comment? Not surprised at all, at all! We are both doing quite well, the weather is chilly but all right (some rain!!!), the children are well - can't ask for much more. Hope you and Mark and Toby have a wonderful New Year, with a minimum of difficulties and snafus and a lot of laughter and joy. Stay well and warm. xxx
